Chicago Heights, Illinois Police Department

• Under the new contract, officers who have served for at least five years can move out of Chicago Heights and reside anywhere in Illinois within 20 miles of the city limits.

Columbus, Ohio Fire Department

• This contract is a successor to the previous agreement, which ran from June 1, 2007 to May 31, 2010. Pension pick-up is decreased by 1% on January 1, 2011 and 1% on January 1, 2012.

Erie, Pennsylvania Police Department

• 2% each January and July 1 from 2009 through 2012

• Arbitrated contract. For the first time, police officers will contribute to their healthcare costs, paying $15 every pay period for single coverage and $30 per pay period for family coverage.

Lincoln City, Nebraska Fire Department@

• No increase

• The new agreement requires that 76 firefighters be on duty at all times.

Mankato, Minnesota Department of Public Safety (Commanders)

• 2009, 3%
• 2010, 2.5%

• The new agreement calls for cuts in the vacation and sick leave sell-back and single insurance rebate programs.

Newark, New Jersey Police Department (Superior Officers)

• January 1, 2009, 2.25%
• January 1, 2010, 2.5%

• January 1, 2012, 3%

• Major medical coverage increased from $1 million maximum to an unlimited lifetime benefit.

Racine, Wisconsin Fire Department

• The contract requires the City to maintain current staffing levels and provides incentive pay of $6.50 per hour for up to 100 hours for firefighters to work out.

South Kingston, Rhode Island Police Department

• July 2009, No increase
• July 2010, 2.25%
• July 2011, 2.25%

• Officers will receive a one-half of one percent increase in longevity pay in the second and third years of the contract.
• In the second year of the contract, officers will begin paying a $100 emergency room co-pay, up from $50 in the current year.
