San Francisco, California Fire Department

• New contract calls for starting overtime pay after a firefighter works 107 hours in two weeks, rather than 53 hours in one week.
• New contract expands the circumstances under which a firefighter can be tested for substance use, including adding “reasonable suspicion” as a basis for a test.

Terre Haute, Indiana Fire Department

• 3.3% per year over the next three years

• Under new contract, firefighters exchange right to cash in unused sick leave upon retirement for an increase in the yearly bonus firefighters receive. The original bonus of $70 for each year of service will be increased by $15 each year of the three-year contract.

Troy, New York Fire Department

• 3.5% per year from 2007 to 2010

• Under new contract, prescription co-pays increase from $1 to $5 for generic drugs; from $3 to $15 for brand preferred drugs; and from $5 to $35 for brand non-preferred drugs.
• The contract caps dental charges at $2,000 annually per person.
