Canton, Ohio Police Department

• Employee contributions to the health insurance premiums will increase in the fourth year of the contract from 3% to 20%.
• Under the new contract, employees will be able to contribute 2% of their salaries tax-free to a post-employment health insurance plan.
• Employees hired after May 1, 2007 will be required to pay 75% of health insurance contributions after they retire.

Moore, Oklahoma Police Department

• The new contract increases longevity pay from $172 to $1,148 annually, depending on years of service, and increases education incentives by $25 per month.
• Contract also calls for police to accept 11% increase in the cost of their health insurance.

Mount Vernon, New York Fire Department

• Under the new contract, the City will cover 80% of retirees’ medical insurance premiums. Retired employees were required to pay for their own medical coverage under the old contract.
• Active-duty firefighters will for the first time have to pay 20% of their medical insurance premiums.
• The contract also increases longevity benefits.

Salinas, California Police Department (Deputy chiefs, commanders and sergeants)

• 25% over the next two years (April 1, 2007 to December 31, 2009)

• Contract includes 5% increase in longevity pay for officers with over 20 years of service.

Tulare County, California Sheriff’s Office

• 2006, 9%
• 2007, 6%
• 2008, 6%

• Under the new contract, the amount the deputies will pay for medical, dental and vision insurance will be offset by an amount equal to one percent of their salary the first year, two percent the second year, and three percent the third.
