Edmund, Oklahoma Police Department

• Contract clarifies what written materials are necessary in a written grievance filed by an employee and requires that copies of all grievances and arbitration awards be kept by the Chief’s office.

Hollywood, Florida Fire Department

• Salaries for new hires cut 14%.
• Pension benefits for newer employees cut, but retirement program for veteran firefighters unchanged.

Marion County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office

Midwest City, Oklahoma Fire Department

• Contract increases number of years a firefighter can receive longevity benefits from 20 to 25 years and adds accrual of vacation leave for firefighters with more than 20 years of service.

Oakland, California Fire Department

• No increase

• Under the terms of the contract, firefighters will work 56 hours a week rather than 52 with no additional pay and will have cost-of-living adjustments frozen through June 2011.

Toledo, Ohio Police Department

• 2011, 3.5%

• The new contract requires officers to pay into their own pension plan for six months, freezes wages for two years, and requires officers for the first time to pay a portion of their health-insurance costs.
• In exchange for the half-year partial pension pickup, the patrolmen get an additional 6½ vacation days through Dec. 31.

Warren, Ohio Fire Department

• July 2009, 2.5% reduction

• The new agreement covers the last six months of 2009, and includes elimination of the City’s 6% pension pickup, the $400 uniform allowance and longevity pay.
