Elyria, Ohio Fire Department

• 2006 through 2008, 3% annually

• Under the new contract, firefighters’ uniform allowance will be raised from $800 to $1,000.
• Reimbursement for getting certified in fire safety and fire apparatus will increase from $500 to $600.

Nassau County, New York Police Department (Detectives)

• Six-year contract starting January 1, 2007, 2.75% annual increases

• Under the new contract, officers promoted to detective will not automatically jump to first-year detective salary of $94,000. Instead, officers will receive $2,400 more than their former salary.

Oakland, California Police Department

• July 1, 2006, 2%
• January 1, 2007, 2%
• July 1, 2007 through 2010, 4% annually

• The new contract will give the Police Chief more flexibility in altering patrol officer work shifts.
• 100% employer-paid medical premiums will continue under new contract.

Pensacola, Florida Fire Department

• 2008, 5% for firefighters; 7% for fire lieutenants; 10% for fire captains

• The new three-year contract does not guarantee pay increases for 2009 and 2010.
• Employees receive an additional 5% increase on their start date anniversary.
• Under the new contract, leave time is capped at 1,400 hours.

• The new contract allows the City to hire five part-time auxiliary officers once there are 120 patrol union members. There are currently 118 patrol officers.
